0.5spd audiovisualier

A generative audio visualiser created for the ambient electronic duo 0.5spd. The duo wanted a platform to share their latest music where the artwork would react in real time to their tracks—a music video that would never be exactly the same, subtly evolving with every play. Working with Benton Ching, we developed an aesthetic inspired by the outlines, gradients, and geometric forms of cityscapes—a core influence on their sound. Using photography and 3D renders of buildings, we translated these into ASCII patterns, then experimented with visual elements that shift based on parameters such as time of day, sound amplitude, and frequency ranges. These elements included backgrounds, keyboard sets, 2D photograph or 3D objects. The result is a dynamic visual identity that reflects the band’s style while offering countless variations, ensuring the artwork always feels alive.
